I was introduced to Rachel Hanfling a few months back and was so pleased when I was able to interview her for Tribal Woman Magazine. One of my first impressions of her was how kind and sweet she is. Then there is all that talent! She was the perfect person to feature in our Women in Media edition of Tribal Woman Magazine.
Rachel Hanfling has a fascinating background! For almost a decade Rachel produced at The Oprah Winfrey Show. During that time she orchestrated complex productions for an audience of millions. Rachel was known for production and delivery highly sensitive topics such as molestation and domestic violence. Some of the power players she produced included Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Julia Roberts, Vera Wang and Ryan Seacrest.
Before joining Oprah, Rachel was a Senior Producer of American Justice and Biography on A&E. Due to this work she received an Alma Award nomination from the National Council of La Raza. Early in her career, she fought for and secured competitive bookings like Michael Jackson for Inside Edition. She began her ascent through the TV ranks in the local newsrooms of Fox in New York, Univision in Chicago and NBC in Madison, Wisconsin.
Most recently, Rachel was one of the core producers who created Anderson Cooper’s daytime show, Anderson. There, she produced a range of topics including an hour-long special on Anderson’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt; an intimate daytime exclusive with Angelina Jolie and a revealing look at how women can make millions by living their dreams.
